Being the main living area for students in Leeds, you'll never get bored living in Headingley. There are tonnes of bars and pubs around, as well as many great restaurants and cafes. If you happen to see Batman or Where's Wally running past you in Headingley, don't panic - they're most likely taking part in the infamous pub crawl: The Otley Run. Headingley is home to the Arndale Centre, which has lots of chain shops including Sainsbury's and Wilkinson, and there is a large Morrisons down the road in Kirkstall.

Kirkstall, Leeds

The beautiful, historical area of Kirkstall is a north-western suburb of Leeds, on the eastern side of the River Aire. It's only around 2 miles (3.2 km) from the city centre and is close to both the University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University, making it one of the most popular student areas of Leeds.

Kirkstall's key features can all be found along Abbey Road and Kirkstall Road. There are loads of pubs to explore along these roads, as well as many shops and supermarkets, making it a great place to relax and meet friends.

Kirkstall is in a fantastic location on the A65 which links it easily to Leeds city centre. Headingley train station (which is actually located in Kirkstall, not Headingley despite its name!) is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Kirkstall and there are many bus routes that run through the suburb; making it easy for you to travel home, to university, into the city centre or to work. If you're a young professional working in the city, Kirkstall's amazing transport links could make it the perfect place for you!

The main visitor attraction in Kirkstall is Kirkstall Abbey. The Kirkstall Festival is held annually in the abbey grounds on the second Saturday in July ever since 1981. It is a festival of music, local arts and crafts, and is a great way to spend an afternoon in the summer.

Hyde Park, Leeds

Known for being one of the most bohemian and trendy areas of Leeds, Hyde Park is located right between the University of Leeds and Headingley. The Hyde Park area is right in the heart of the city's student community, making it easy for you to make tonnes of friends from both the University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University, and as a result is becoming more popular with students every year.

Hyde Park has lots of cute local and independent shops, yet also has the benefit of having multiple supermarkets, a pharmacy, a bakery and lots of great vintage clothing stores. There are tonnes of cafes, bars and pubs to choose from, including 'The Royal Park'; a large pub popular with students which even has a gig venue downstairs!

The area has a fantastically varied selection of residents, including a large student population, young professionals, and families. There are great transport links to other areas of Leeds for a night out, but Burley is known for its own great selection of pubs and bars. There are lots of great supermarkets to choose from, such as Asda, Co-Op, Aldi, and Iceland, which are all in walking distance of the majority of our houses for rent in Burley - you'll never need a car in this amazing area of Leeds.

You'll be spoilt for choice of things to do in Burley! Huddersfield

Huddersfield is a large market town in West Yorkshire, halfway between Leeds and Manchester, with tonnes of pubs, restaurants and night clubs for you and your friends to explore. The town is home to the very respectable University of Huddersfield as well as many colleges; meaning that every year a huge amount of students call Huddersfield their new home.

If you love sports then you'll love Huddersfield! The town is famous for sport: it's the home of the rugby league team the Huddersfield Giants and the football team Huddersfield Town F.C.

There are three main shopping areas in Huddersfield: Kingsgate, The Packhorse Precinct and The Piazza Centre. The Piazza is a fantastic outdoor shopping centre that has grassed areas that are often used for entertainment like international markets and ice-skating in winter. There are both indoor and outdoor markets, as well as two Sainsbury's and a Tesco. If you have any money left in your student loan, there's a great range of high street shops such as Topshop, River Island and Next, as well as fantastic food outlets including Nando's, Pizza Hut, McDonald's and Subway.

Sheffield

Sheffield is a fun and lively city in South Yorkshire, and is home to two large universities: the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. Sheffield has loads of great pubs throughout the city - 'West Street' in the city centre is a student's dream; home to some of the city's best pubs, bars and clubs.

Are you a shopaholic? Then Sheffield is definitely the place for you. The main shopping areas in the city centre are home to John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, and Debenhams as well as many more incredible high street stores, and just outside of the city is the Meadowhall shopping centre - one of the largest shopping centres in the country!

Sheffield is home to lots of bars and restaurants, as well as many cinemas, including the Odeon Sheffield and the Vue. If you're a fan of non-mainstream productions, there is also an independent cinema (The Showroom) in the heart of the city - it was even voted the Best Independent Cinema in the country by Guardian readers!
